Surfing in Lockdown 3.0 Tips
Well, here we are again. Lockdown 3.0!
If you are one of the lucky few that live near a UK surf beach we have some tips below if you’re heading out for a surf soon.
… Whether you’re pro or anti surfing in the current situation, this is the official word from our friends at Surfing England 👀 👉🏼
〰️ General Guidance for UK Surfers 〰️
Surfing at the beach is allowed to continue as a form of exercise through the lockdown! 🎉🏄🏻♀️ …providing the new restrictions announced on the 4th of Jan, are adhered to.
Surfing England’s guidance to surfers is:
〰️ SOCIAL DISTANCE 〰️
Stay 2 meters (6 ft) apart from anyone not in your household.
〰️ SURF WITHIN YOUR LIMITS 〰️
If in doubt, don’t paddle out. Be honest with yourself about your capabilities and avoid taking unnecessary risks. If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
〰️ STAY LOCAL 👀 ‼️ 〰️
Exercise is limited to once a day and only within your local area. On the Government advice it states “Stay local means stay in the village, town, or part of the city where you live.”
〰️ RESPECT THE COMMUNITY 👊🏼 〰️
Be mindful that many vulnerable people are having to self isolate and local facilities like car parks and toilets may be closed.
〰️ RESPECT OTHER SURFERS 〰️
Avoid crowding beaches and busy peaks. Be mindful that you do not always know what the surfer in the lineup near to you is currently going through – consider taking that pause between sets to ask ‘how are you?’ and share some stoke at this difficult time!
〰️ PROMOTE GOOD SURF ETIQUETTE 〰️
Don’t snake or drop in! …Smile! 😃 Be thankful we can still enjoy some waves for our exercise, be kind & surf safe. ✌🏼
