If you’re dreaming of escaping to coastal views and brilliant surf, the great news is that you may not have to venture very far.

Staycations are the perfect opportunity to kick back and relax for a few days, head off on adventures and explore somewhere new.

With many of us fearing that our annual great summer UK holiday would be unsalvageable, the recent Government announcements in July green-lighting the opening of campsites, UK hotels and B&Bs has resurrected the chance of sunny getaways – (and inevitably making us Brits go bananas!)

 

The UK is home to some seriously spectacular beaches! What better way to spend your bank holiday than a dip in the sea.

At Euphoric Threads we LOVE travelling, adventure, and exploring new places and beaches – but our absolute FAVS are right on our doorstep and a stone throw away in the stunning South West of England (bias I know!) but if you find yourself heading towards the West Country this bank holiday, here are 8 of our favourite coastal spots and beaches in the South West of England that we love to surf and explore…

 

Cornwall

Our designer Laura has spent her childhood surfing, boogie boarding and camping on family holidays in Cornwall, its a beaut of a place. We could (and should) write a blog post just taking you through the incredible beaches on offer in Cornwall. Seriously, when the sun is out, you can forget about the Caribbean, we have some serious rival beaches here in Cornwall – the South Western tip of England. Some of our go-to beaches when we visit:

WATERGATE BAY

TIP: Head to WAX for a takeaway pint of Cornish Rattler Cider! OR – Treat yourself to lunch or a spa day at the amazing Watergate Bay Hotel overlooking the stunning beach.

 

POLZEATH

TIP: Camp for a night up at New Polzeath car park – You can surf straight off the rocks. Early morning before high tide is so much fun! Also 0 make sure to check out the RUM BAR for a post surf cocktail!

 

 PORTHCOTHAN

Arguably the most beautiful beach in the UK and complete with white sands, high cliffs and turquoise water (on a sunny day!), Porthcurno Bay is located in the far west of Cornwall. The large stretch of beach is popular with families as the stream that flows down one side of the beach is perfect for children to play and paddle in.

 

PRAA SANDS

We only just discovered this gem of a beach when we attended a Women’s longboarding weekend with the Surf Sistas . (You can read more on our upcoming blog post coming next!  Euphoric Threads X Surf Sistas Weekend Surfing in Cornwall ! )

• Constantine Beach (one of the most beautiful on the north coast)
• Pedn Vounder Beach (you will not believe your eyes)
• Gwithian Beach (spot the windsurfers!)
• Bedruthen Steps (small beach but gorgeous)
• Sennen Cove
• Hayle Beach
• Holywell Bay
• Fistral Beach (Home of the Boardmasters surf competitions)
• Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay

Dorset

We are currently located a mile from the Jurassic coastline of Chesil beach by this coastal village called Burton Bradstock.

Chesil Beach is an 18-mile long shingle barrier beach stretching from West Bay to Portland and is one of Dorset’s most iconic landmarks.

Contrary to Weymouth’s golden sands, Chesil is not your typical British beach lined with stripy deckchairs and pastel painted beach-huts but wild, rugged and at the mercy of Mother Nature. We love it here!

BURTON BRADSTOCK BEACH

 

WEST BEXINGTON

If you’ve seen our Insta Stories and recent Instagram posts of deserted golden beaches…. this is where we’ve been hanging!

West Bexington is a quiet section of Chesil Beach, which is popular with fishermen. There are two restaurants nearby; The Club House and The Manor Pub.

 

Devon

We LOVE North Devon! If you are adventuring off this bank holiday weekend to the North Devon coastline, make sure to go visit the beautiful town of Croyde! (Watch out though it will be super busy!) We love the Thatch Pub for some post surf pub grub!

Across the headland and most likely the first long stretch of beach you will see out of your car window is the insanely beautiful Saunton Sands.

 

SAUNTON SANDS

 

Saunton Beach in North Devon is a 4 mile epic stretch of golden sands backed by dunes perfect for the family and dog walking.

TIP – If you are looking for secret parking – Put Sandy Lane Car Park in your Google Maps / Sat Nav.

NOTE – It’s about a 40 minute walk to the beach from the car, but its a gorgeous path through sand dunes and countryside. (Just worth noting if you are carrying lots of boards! We made that mistake lol)
